The 3 Most Important Mindset Shifts To Grow a Successful Coaching Business
Mindset is everything. It influences how you see the world, yourself and your business. It influences your mood, your energy, your enthusiasm.
I am more and more convinced that it’s people’s mindset that makes all the difference in their ability to grow a successful coaching business.
Yes, you may be talented, but what if you don’t trust that about yourself? Yes, you may work hard, but what if you overdo it and burnout trying to feel more worthy? And yes, you have obstacles and problems, but what if you never acknowledge what is going well?
Well, here’s what if…
You will likely stay stuck in your coaching business and be unable to grow it. Oh, and by the way, you will be miserable.
In this blog, I’m going to help you identify the 3 most important mindset shifts you need to make to grow a successful coaching business.
Big enough to make a difference in the world. And to bring some enthusiasm and joy back to your business.
The 3 Most Important Mindset Shifts To Help You Show Up Big In Your Coaching Business!
1. Notice What is Working ( Going from negative to positive mindset)
Have you ever noticed how attuned you are to the problems and obstacles in your coaching business?
Especially solo-preneurs?
You often get caught in negativity because there isn’t anyone to point you in another direction.
And that’s why this first mindset shift is so important.
You have to become your own cheerleader, even you own supportive coach!
Try this now… what are the three wins you had from last week?
Can you think of them right away?
Possibly not.
Unless you’ve been coached to write down your wins at the end of the day or the week like I encourage my clients to do, you won’t even remember them.
And here’s why.
Our brain has a negativity bias.
We focus on the negative more easily. And we retain the negative a lot longer. It’s part of our survival instinct.
If you fell into a pothole last week crossing the street, you’ll be on alert for another pothole and miss the perfectly safe crossings you’ve had for most of your life!
It requires a conscious decision to make this mindset shift to start noticing what is working.
I would like to invite you to take a few moments each day to look for the things that are going well for you, the things that are working. We Coaches call these WINS.
I suggest you pick a place to write your wins down at the end of your day. And read it before your day begins.
I actually do this exercise weekly. When I review my week, I always start with my Wins.
In fact, I start every coaching session asking about my clients wins since we last spoke.
It will help to shift you out of the negative mindset and into the mindset of a winner.
It will help you to show up big in your business because it’s a sure way to build confidence.
2. Trust Yourself (Shift from self-doubt and Imposter syndrome to keeping promises you make to yourself)
There is a lot written about Imposter Syndrome.
To simplify it here, let’s remember that it is a form of self-doubt. And honestly, most of us experience some form of self-doubt along our entrepreneurial paths.
It can come from not having support as you were growing up, it can come from a need to be perfect just to be good enough, and it can be a kind of brainwashing from looking at all the “perfect” people on Instagram and Hollywood!
It may take time to overcome this syndrome, but here’s something that can help immediately.
You want to shift from the sense of self-doubt to a sense of trusting yourself. And you can do that by working on keeping the promises you make to yourself.
That looks like getting up at the time you set for yourself in the morning.
It might mean creating an IG story or post that you planned for.
These are not major things.
But I have found both personally and with my students and clients that they have lost trust in themselves and doubt their abilities because they have continued to let themselves down over the years.
My suggestion is to always start small.
What’s one thing you can promise yourself you will do today? Now, go do it.
- Maybe it’s cleaning the bathroom.
- Maybe it’s making a phone call you need to make.
- Maybe it’s eating a healthy lunch.
To build trust in yourself around your business, make and keep some small promises to yourself in that area everyday.
By following through with small promises to yourself, you start to change your identity.
You now begin to see yourself as someone you can trust. And some of your self doubt and imposter syndrome will start to fade in the background.
3. Be In The Flow (Shifting from trying too hard and perfectionism to letting universal power flow through you)
What is it we are trying to accomplish by trying so hard, by needing to be perfect?
Honestly, we are trying to combat a sense that we’re not good enough. This is a deep and very common emotional wound.
The thing is, we can’t heal it by working so hard to be better.
I mean, it’s fun to work hard and accomplish something. It can be very satisfying.
But when we attach our self-worth to the accomplishment of that thing, we just suffer.
There is no joy in the accomplishment because achievements can’t actually heal that wound.
We need to shift our mindset in order to heal that wound.
My experience is that we need to shift our focus away from trying so hard, to learning to be in the flow.
The flow means taking the “personal” out of the activity.
Most coaches are spiritual people in some capacity.
You understand there is a universal power that has laws and systems that are way beyond our understanding.
And yet, life flows so easily. Rain falls, flowers grow, planets spin in their orbit.
Did you have to do anything to make sure that happened?
No siree. You did not.
How about you make that shift for yourself.
Instead of thinking you have to do it all, allow that universal energy to come in and help you:
- Breathe, let go of the emotional attachment to making it perfect.
- Breathe, let go of the anxiety in your belly.
- Allow yourself to be used, to be guided, to be inspired by forces beyond yourself and that are way more powerful.
Can you just imagine that?
I want you to imagine that.
Because that’s the shift you need to make. Out of your own head, your own sense of a small and not good enough self, to a vehicle through which miracles can happen.
It’s a beautifully creative experience, being in the flow.
And miracles will happen.
Okay?
That’s my lesson for today!!!!
Start noticing what is working so you can shift your mindset from negative to positive.
Start trusting yourself by making and keeping small but consistent promises to yourself so you can shift your mindset from self-doubt, imposter syndrome to trust.
Start letting go and allowing yourself to be in the flow so you can shift your mindset of thinking you have to do it all to allow the laws and powers of the universe to create miracles for you.
See you next time,
❤️Lisa
