How To Show Up Big and Bright in Your Business!

Confidence has always been a problem for me. Like so many creatives and spiritual entrepreneurs, I totally believe in my ability to help people and to make a difference in their lives. That’s my calling. It’s the business aspect that can derail me if I’m not careful.

Can you relate?

For example:

  • Do you have questions about whether you can find enough coaching clients to be able to make a living?
  • Does your head turn to jello when someone says “marketing plan?”
  • Are you just in doubt you can transition from a 9-5 job to full time coaching?
  • Or are you overwhelmed by all your options and simply shut down?

I have found there is a gap between believing in yourself as a coach and being able to put yourself out there consistently and boldly.

Here a 5 personal growth steps to help you show up in your business!

✅ Step #1 – FOCUS ON THE “INNER GAME”

If I’m not careful, I can spend all my time watching YouTube videos on how to grow my Instagram following! And as I see all these amazing experts and their amazing IG feed, my confidence in myself dips, like a ballroom dancer! 💃🏻

I know we’re taught to work hard on our businesses by creating marketing plans and systems. And yes, we need that.

But first and foremost, we need to work on ourselves.

We are the instruments through which transformation happens for our clients. We must stay focused on our “inner game” in order to feel confident.

Here’s what I mean about the “inner game.”

In any sport, as an example, there is the game itself and then there’s the game that goes on in the athlete’s head:

Can I make the shot?

Am I good enough?

I should have had a better breakfast!

The “inner game” is where all the obstacles to your success reside, such as Imposter Syndrome, self-doubts of all kind, limiting beliefs, limiting assumptions, fear with all its colors, and the inner critic.

And just like great athletes you too must learn to successfully deal with your mind, the mental aspects of the inner game to be able to overcome the doubts, grow your confidence and move your business forward.

Therefore, start your confidence building journey by taking time away from your business building journey  to work on your  personal growth.

Make it a business priority.

✅ Step #2 – CREATE A COMPELLING VISION AND POWERFUL WHY

It’s really easy to get stuck in the weeds of running and building a business.

Yes, the hours I’ve devoted to trying to figure out Pinterest!!!! 😫

Sometimes, I just get up from my computer exhausted having totally forgotten what I’m doing all this for?

That is not good for my confidence.

Has that happened to you?

You worked hard on something that may or may not seem successful and you just feel “What’s the point?”

It is in that very moment when you need to draw on your Vision and your Why!

There is energy here.

These don’t have to be earth shattering.

I mean, most people think that a Vision has to be something that changes the world, and your Why needs to make you cry?

That’s a lot of pressure.

To start, just get something down on paper that you can read daily to remind you of your purpose for building your business.

Examples:

  • Maybe it’s to be able to make extra money so you can take your family on vacation.
  • Maybe it’s an inner calling you don’t even understand yet.
  • Maybe it’s because being a coach just fills you up with joy and energy and passion.
  • Maybe you see your business as a way to shine your light and share your gifts into the world.
  • Maybe you need the money.

You don’t have to make it huge, just make it real.

Think of it often.

As you step into your vision and purpose, you’ll feel your confidence grow because you are doing what you were meant to be doing for the good of yourself, your family and maybe one day even for the world.

✅ Step #3 – LEARN TO TRUST YOURSELF

Learning to trust yourself can really grow your confidence enormously. We lose confidence every time we say we are going to do something and then we don’t do it.

I think of it as keeping promises to myself.

This was so hard for me when I was younger. I would say, “I’m going to do my homework tonight.” And then I wouldn’t do it.

As I got older I’d say things like: “I’m going to bed early. I’m going to eat better. I’m going to save more money.” You know, all the activities of “adulting.”

But I didn’t do them.

I simply didn’t keep these promises to myself and therefore lost trust in myself.

Hence, I had very low confidence.

After all, if I can’t even be disciplined enough to get to bed earlier, how can I trust myself to grow a successful business?

Keeping your promises to yourself, and building trust that you will do what you say is a habit.

And the best way to build this, or any habit for that matter is to start super small.

Don’t take on the biggest baddest habits you have in your life by trying to change them all.

Or take on your most audacious goal all at once, when you still have trouble getting to bed on time.

Rather, find something small, a promise you know you can keep and start there.

For example, maybe you want to start meditating regularly. That’s such a great focus for your personal growth.  Start super small.

Say “I’m going to meditate for 3 minutes each night before I get into bed.

When you keep your promise to yourself, you will learn to trust yourself.

Now, you have a basis for confidence. You can start saying: Look, I can accomplish whatever I put my mind to.”

That’s confidence born from trusting yourself to keep the promises you make to yourself.

✅ Step #4 – CREATE A PLAN

Plans give you the confidence that you are going in the right direction, the confidence to know what actions to take today, and the confidence that you’re doing the work that will bring you success.

I saw the funniest advertisement years ago that said:

“Most people spend more time planning their vacations than they do planning their lives!”

That kind of hit home to me. I think we all understand that we have to plan vacations, weddings, events, dinner parties.

In other words, get clear on what your goals are. Get clear on what to focus on this month, this week, this day.

Plans really help with confidence.

Get moving. Plan your day if that’s the easiest place to start. And watch your confidence grow as you see yourself making progress.

✅ Step #5 – HAVE SOME FUN

There’s nothing like celebrating successes to give you the confidence to keep moving.

Find fun ways to congratulate yourself.

Look for the joy in what you are doing.

You became a coach because you were called to do so. You have something in you that just knows you can help.

Find that joy everyday.

Don’t laugh, but I light a candle, diffuse some essential oil and play a soft background playlist on YouTube while I am working. It gives me joy when I look at the light, or smell the lavender. The music just keeps me calm. It makes me happy.

There is little confidence in feeling miserable.

Look for ways to connect with the fun and joy in life in all moments.

Really, otherwise, what’s the point?

Follow these 5 steps and I bet you’ll start showing up so big and bright in your coaching business that people will notice.

That’s friends, family and most of all new clients!
