Behind the Scenes: How Life Coaching Helped Lora Lisi Find Her Worth
Today I live with a true passion and desire to live my best life and be an instrument to help others connect to theirs. – Lora Lisi, Spiritual Coach
Back in 2010, wife and mom Lora Lisi didn’t know anything about life coaching. She had never met one, and certainly, she had not thought about hiring one either. After all, she truly loved her life. She was always very connected to her feelings and wanted to help others. She was a stay-at-home mom, a leader in her circles. She was very involved in her children’s extracurricular activities and the school community.
So what in the world would drive Lora to hire me as her life coach?
Below is Lora’s story. It will help you see how hiring a life coach and learning some powerful life coaching strategies enhanced Lora’s life in ways she couldn’t have imagined.
I hope you find her story inspiring and motivating. It will give you some insight into the benefits of life coaching in general and help you decide if you’d like to attend our Self-Care Life Coaching Virtual Retreat January 22-24th where you’ll learn some of the very strategies I used with Lora to help with her inner transformation and that she now teaches.

Life Before Coaching
Lora’s life before she hired me was rich and full. She was a very busy mother with a family of boys. There was a lot going on. She was also very involved with her extended family.
“Even though I contributed in many ways, I didn’t feel it was enough,” she told me. “I didn’t feel I was enough. I had a feeling of emptiness. I wasn’t feeling my worth. Even with all I was doing and helping, I felt a disconnect with myself.”
And that is where I came in.
Lora’s niece gave her the book I had written. Becoming a Mother on Fire: A Guide to Being a Mom Without Losing Yourself was written precisely for women like Lora. The reason she didn’t feel that her contributions to her husband and family and community were enough, the reason she was feeling a disconnect with herself was because she had lost herself.
She was putting everyone else’s needs above her own. No wonder she wasn’t feeling her worth.
In addition, Lora could feel this urging within.
“It was a feeling – well more like a burning desire to connect with my true purpose,” she shared with me recently.
Connecting with her purpose was the reason she hired me.
But what was that purpose?
Lora’s First “Self-Discovery” Coaching Session
Lora and I spent a few hours together for our first session. These first life coaching sessions are often called Discovery sessions because their main purpose is to guide the client in a powerful self-discovery process. Perhaps I will change that name to “Self-Discovery Session. I like that.
First, we took a snapshot of Lora’s life currently. We used The Wheel of Life exercise. It’s pretty simple and yet so effective. She gave herself a rating in each area of her Wheel and then drew a circle to connect the dots.
Lora’s wheel was totally out of balance. Her family and community were well represented, but she was nowhere to be found in the personal area of her wheel. No wonder she was feeling empty.
That was our first clue that Lora was not connected to her own needs.
We started setting some goals in the areas that needed attention. Digging for some goals that were all about her wasn’t easy. She, like many women I coach, felt guilty when she started to look after herself.
It’s not that she needed to start putting herself first, necessarily, we were just trying to get her on the list!
But Lora was so committed to her own growth, guilt was not going to stop her.
Her commitment impressed me. I knew that because of her commitment, she would be successful in her life coaching.
Change is hard. Without commitment, it’s pretty nearly impossible. Lora just radiated commitment. She was a great client.
Lora’s Vision
Also in that first “Self-Discovery session”, I helped Lora uncover her Core Values. This is a profound exercise. Here is how it went:
- Lora identified a time in her life when in contrast to how she was currently feeling, she felt really fulfilled. She recalled situations, moments, events that simply filled her up. No thought of anything missing in these moments.
- In our discussion, we picked out what it was about those moments that mattered most.
- We put together a list with words that described those moments. And that was her Core Values List. It was very personal and unique to her. Lora’s top three Core Values:
- Family
- Truth
- Love
- And then we started to imagine what her life would look like if she were honouring those values. We got very deep and very specific. And we got very big!
- And now, we had a Vision. Oh my. It was electric.
One of Lora’s great strengths that I have watched grow and grow over all these years we’ve worked together first as client/coach and now as colleagues is her capacity to Vision and then to make that vision happen.
This was something that was new to Lora. She was just learning this about herself, what a powerful manifestor she was and still is.

Life After Coaching
Well, in fact, you can say that coaching never really ends. Lora learned so many tools and strategies from our work together, she simply draws on them when needed. And the occasional call to me if she’s feeling stuck.
Coaching changed Lora’s life.
“Life Coaching impacted my life greatly,” Lora remembers. “Even though I loved myself and my life before coaching, today I greatly appreciate and value my life even more.”
“Most importantly, I know my worth.”
Today, Lora is the founder of BlissOm Yoga Studio & Holistic Living Center, a Motivational Speaker • Life Coach • Yoga Practitioner • Lululemon Legacy Ambassador. Whew. I told you she could manifest!
“Today I live with a true passion and desire to live my best life and be an instrument to help others connect to theirs.”
Lora loved the coaching process so much, she became a coach herself.
Her business, @bliss_om is a place where people come to rest, renew, rejuvenate, heal, exercise, find their light, and share it with the world. The beauty, peace, and uplifting qualities of the space translate amazingly well to online classes and certifications.
And that is because BlissOm radiates Lora’s Vision, Values, and Spirit – beauty, truth, peace, love, and service.
“But what about me,” I asked her laughing?
“I loved your enthusiasm, dedication, wisdom, and making me take accountability for my life. Your knowledge in every area of life was incredible and vast. Lisa, your way of making me see myself and my potential was huge in my growth. I will forever be grateful for your coaching and this time working together as colleagues.”
Ahh…just what a coach needs to hear once in a while.
Kidding aside, Lora makes a very good point. One of the great benefits of working with a coach, 1-1, in a group or at a retreat is the coach’s ability to see the client’s or student’s potential and worth. Because we can see it, we can help our clients see it too. That’s powerful stuff. It’s the fuel that keeps the client moving up the hill and into the stars if that’s what they want.
In closing, Lora found these questions really helpful. Well, let’s say her introspection prompted by the questions led to some wonderful insights for her.
In her own words
“This week I was asked about, what was one thing I learned about myself through the Life Coaching process?”
“My Answer: Worth and knowing I was Enough!”
“There was a time in my life I questioned my worth and did not feel like I was enough. I was constantly looking for happiness outside of myself.
It was and is the greatest feeling to know and believe in myself! I am not perfect but I unapologetically believe in who I am. Revisiting my early coaching was a good reminder. Yes, I am Enough.”
Yes. Lora Lisi, you are enough.
